There are good things and bad things about any place, this one included. First of all, we love our doctor here and feel so lucky to have found him. The nurses and lab personnel we have seen have been unfailingly pleasant and professional. That said, the people who answer the phones need some Dale Carnegie lessons. I called for a med refill (important *must take every day" cardiac medication) and was placed on hold for over ten minutes. When I hung up and called back, I explained why I had called back. I was not unpleasant or rude, I just wanted to let her know why. The person on the other end of the phone (sounded like the woman who had answered my original call) informed me in a very short demeanor that only one person was taking the calls from that doctor and wait times would be long and by hanging up, I lost my place in line. Fine, okay, I get it. But if she had told me that in the first place instead of leaving me on hold forever or at least picking up the phone to apprise me of the situation during my extended wait time, it would have prevented my now poor opinion of their office staff. Remember, there is a real person on the other end of that phone and they do not have access to the same information you have. A little info and a pleasant demeanor can go a long way in encouraging a good opinion.
Horrible! I've tried to give them the benefit of doubt by trying many different doctors there, but the majority seem to be pretty terrible. I brought my daughter in for cold symptoms and they labeled it "fussy baby". Brought her back three days later as symptoms had worsened and they labeled it a "cold". I had my doubts so I took her to Blank in Des Moines. She had strep! Dr.Cope is probably the worst by far in the office. Please be careful taking your children here.
I usually get in pretty much on time for my appointments. Once in awhile their is a situation where they are running late. Only once were they running way behind time, like an hour. Then I wish they would call that particular Dr's people to receptionits desk and tell us that Dr is running late. Other then that I am happy with Newton Clinic.
This was a day I hope I'll never experience again. I phoned early hoping to see a doctor for osteoarthritis pain I could no longer stand. They told me to come in at 3:30. When I went with the help of my daughter from out of town, I was told it was for 2:30. Then they rescheduled me for 4:45. Well 4:45 came and went and then was told the doctor that was going to see me was now in the ER. It was 5:10 and they were searching for someone else to see. BTW we would not have known this had my daughter not gone up to the receptionist to ask why I hadn't been seen yet. By that time I was done mentally and physically and told them no, I was not going to wait again and no I would not reschedule for Monday. Their slogan 'Treat you like family" is a farce. And on their wall as you exit is a sign inviting people to fill out a form below if you feel your experience was poor. There was nothing below the sign! I will be going to DesMoines now.
Awful. They called my phone because an assistant refused to treat my sick family. The physician assistant was rude and snarky then 'mike' calls and before asking questions he tells me I was "unprofessional" I'm a client sick seen her twice now in a month and week still she refused to rest us so I disagreed with her. Today if you cannot separate your personal ego from your job reconsider. Please people this place hasn't gotten any better in years it's worth travelling elsewhere!
