I love Farvers True Value, my only complaint is your website... it's terrible, the search functionality very limited. Short of checking your hours or getting phone number it's a waste of time to shop on your site.
The Newton True Value is pretty good. Employees are mostly nice. Some of the older workers seem grumpy some times but.. they are old and work at True Value so I guess that’s probably how I would feel too.
4 girls at cash register and the most they could do was call for a man to help. Really?? At least he was extremely helpful and knowledge, but the girls were a waste of payroll.
We try to shop local when we can. I hadn't been in the store without looking for something specific. I got the chance to wander recently while my husband was getting some supplies for a project. I couldn't believe all the variety for cooking and baking supplies! Definitely will be looking there first in future.
The store has your basic building supplies, tools, plumbing, etc. They also have some odd items that bigger stores don’t have such as Duco Cement (glue). Neither Lowe’s or Home Depot had this. Best glue EVER.
The ability to rent tables from here is really great. In the daytime, I ordered tables and the man I spoke to was extremely professional and all went very smoothly. Delivery in the PM is a different story: waited forever past the 4:30 delivery time, no phone call and when I called I was told the tables were dropped off on the west side of the house. The delivery person "tried to call" but there was nothing on my smartphone. Also knocked on the door but heard nothing. I found the tables on the SOUTH side of the house, and had to call back again to get the guy to come back. Same with pick up. Called twice and heard a light knock on the door, and almost missed the guy as he was heading away. Didn't give me much time to answer. Warning: delivery and pick up will take a very long time, so if you're in a time crunch, beware.
Let’s be realistic here. You can only expect so much from a small store. This isn’t Lowe’s or Home Depot. The store probably doesn’t have the luxury of having prices as low as a big box store. Plus, supply and demand determines pricing and let’s face it, there isn’t exactly another place nearby to buy a lot of the stuff they sell.
